Printing

Networked printers are available for use in student computing rooms and for the use of which a small amount is levied for every page printed. The current charges are:-

HP4250 monochrome printer in the Staircase 18 Computer Room:  4 pence per page
HP4200 monochrome printer in the JCR Computer Room :  4 pence per page
HP5550 colour printer in the JCR Computer Room:  10 pence per A4 page
 25 pence per A3 page
HP4650 colour printer in Library North :  10 pence per page
C5235i colour photocopier in Library entrance :  5 pence per monochrome A4 page
10 pence per colour A4 page
10 pence per monochrome A3 page
25 pence per colour A3 page

Printing is charged directly to members' Upay account.  When printing this charge is made at the time a job is submitted and when using the photocopier in the Library it is done when members swipe their University Cards in the print/copy release terminal adjacent to the photocopier.

When using College printers a number of points should further be borne mind:

  • Print jobs that become queued due to insufficient printing credit will be printed when additional credit is available, therefore users should delete such documents from the appropriate printer queue if they do not intend to proceed with printing at that time.

  • Before submitting work for printing, the destination printer should be checked to make sure that it has paper and toner.

  • Any poor quality printing or malfunctioning printers should be brought to the attention of the College's I.T. staff by e-mailing support@stcatz.ox.ac.uk

Connecting To Networked Printers From Personal Computers and other Devices.

College members may print to networked printers via either document submission by e-mail or uploading to a web portal. Accepted formats include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, PDF, JPG, GIF, PNG, TIF, and TXT. Users wishing to print other file formats should either convert the document to PDF format prior to submission, or print locally in one of the College's computer rooms.

Printing documents submitted by e-mail:

Send an e-mail with the documents attached that you would like to print, to printing@stcatz.ox.ac.uk , submitted jobs will then be queued until released. Please note that print jobs may only be submitted from your primary University account.

After submitting your print job go to https://gentoo.stcatz.ox.ac.uk , login (using your College network credentials), select the 'My Print Jobs' tab where you will be able to select your desired destination printer and available (advanced) options such specifying pages, duplexing, or forced monochrome printing.

Printing documents via upload to a web portal:

Using your preferred web browser go to https://gentoo.stcatz.ox.ac.uk , login (using your College network credentials), and select the 'Web Print' tab.

Select whether you wish to print a particular web page (in which case enter the appropriate URL in the field provided), or a specific file. In the latter case 'Browse' for the desired file and once selected click on the 'Next' button after which you will be able to select your desired destination printer and available (advanced) options such specifying pages, duplexing, or forced monochrome printing.
